چکیده

Received Feb 3, 2017 Revised Mar 18, 2017 Accepted May 5, 2017 Dual input dc-dc converters have two input voltage sources or one input source and an energy storage system like ultra capacitor, PV, battery, super capacitors and a single output load. In order to process the power in hybrid energy systems using reduced part count, researchers have proposed several multi-input dc-dc power converter topologies to transfer power from different input voltage sources to the output. This paper compares nonisolated dual-input converter topologies topologically, based on the components count, various fields of application and different modes of operation for hybrid systems mainly used in electric vehicles and renewable energy systems composed of energy storage systems (ESSs) with different voltage-current characteristics. Dual input dc-dc converter topologies considered in this paper are investigated using MATLAB and PSIM software and output voltage and inductor current waveforms are shown. Keyword:

A Markovian Approach Applied to Reliability Modeling of Bidirectional DC-DC Converters Used in PHEVs and Smart Grids

In this paper, a stochastic approach is proposed for reliability assessment of bidirectional DC-DC converters, including the fault-tolerant ones. This type of converters can be used in a smart DC grid, feeding DC loads such as home appliances and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The reliability of bidirectional DC-DC converters is of such an importance, due to the key role of the expec...

Single-Input Dual-Output (SIDO) Linear–Assisted DC/DC Converter

This article describes a single-input dual output (SIDO) linear-assisted DC/DC converter. Linear-assisted DC/DC converters are structures that allow to take advantages of the two classic alternatives in the design of power supply systems: voltage linear regulators and switching DC/DC converters. Thanks to the combination of a switching converter and two voltage linear regulators, the proposed S...

Design and Simulation of a New DC Power Supply Based on Dual Bridge Matrix Converter

A conventional high power DC power supply systems consist of a three-phase diode rectifier followed by a high frequency converter to supply loads at regulated DC voltage. These rectifiers draw significant harmonic currents from the utility, resulting in poor input power factor. In this paper, a DC power supply based on dual-bridge matrix converter (DBMC) with reduced number of switches is p...

Efficient low-voltage ride-through nonlinear backstepping control strategy for PMSG-based wind turbine during the grid faults

This paper presents a new nonlinear backstepping controller for a direct-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator-based wind turbine, which is connected to the power system via back-to-back converters. The proposed controller deals with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in normal condition and enhances the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) capability in fault conditions. In this method, to...

A High Efficiency Low-Voltage Soft Switching DC–DC Converter for Portable Applications

This paper presents a novel control method to improve the efficiency of low-voltage DC-DC converters at light loads. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) converters have poor efficiencies at light loads, while pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control is more efficient for the same cases. Switching losses constitute a major portion of the total power loss at light loads. To decrease the switching losses...
